Dr. Wanda LeFloreDr. Wanda LeFlore is a resolute community servant and tenured Board Member of the Metro East Literary Project (MELP), where she has served since 2020. Even during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wanda remained deeply committed to MELP’s mission, finding innovative ways to serve and stay connected through digital platforms, drive-by initiatives, and hands-on volunteer efforts that continued to uplift the community.
Currently serving as Interim Board President, Wanda brings a lifetime of experience, compassion, and leadership to her work. Her commitment to education and service is reflected in her extensive academic background, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Reading Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Maryville University. Wanda retired after a distinguished career as the principal of a full-time gifted school that became a source of pride for its community, earning national recognition, including the National Blue-Ribbon School Award and the National School of Character Award. Beyond her school leadership, she has contributed her expertise and advocacy to multiple advisory boards, including Webster University’s Gifted Education Advisory Board, the Advisory Gifted Council at Maryville University, and the Administrators’ Task Force Advisory Panel for the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). A lifelong learner with a heart for service, Wanda continues to pour into others through MentoringUp and Leadership Training for undergraduate and graduate chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She also serves as a Content Editor for The Aurora Magazine, using her voice and experience to inspire growth, equity, and empowerment across the communities she serves. |
