![]() I stalled, and hesitated, and just about gave up on writing a blog about literacy. I struggled with self-doubt and self-confidence. I told myself I wasn’t an eloquent speaker or writer. I told myself I wasn’t an expert on the topic. But the biggest problem was I felt I didn’t have anything profound to say. But as I kept reading others’ blogs on a variety of topics, I noticed people aren’t necessarily creating mind-blowing, earth-shattering content. Often they are writing about topics that I’m already familiar with and understand. I’m simply reading information that is communicated in a different way, in the writer’s unique voice, that gives me more insight on the topic. I finally realized I just have to do it. I have to talk about my observations on literacy and not be shy. I might help someone as surely as other bloggers have helped me. I ultimately realized that one man’s profundity is another man’s banality.
